This is very important in dog training where a broken harness can cause accident or injury to you or your dog.

You can buy a less expensive harness at any store in your town, but you will NEVER buy a better quality harness. Most experienced dog trainers know that you get what you pay for!

The tracking harness is designed to fit almost any size working dog. The leather is the finest you can buy. It is flexible and will not rub or wear into the skin of your dog. In addition it has a padded shoulder straps to protect the dog in a long track. There is a lightweight belly-plate that is not padded. We designed this tracking harness to be comfortable and as light as possible with a leather harness for longer tracks.

You can have the plate and o-ring be on top of the dogs back or under the dogs chest; it is your choice. Some trainers prefer the long line to be under the dog and come out between the dogs back legs. This helps in training tracking dogs to keep their head to the ground. Other trainers prefer to have the plate and o-ring be on top of the dogs back and have the track line or long line come off the dog behind the shoulder blades.

Our tracking harness is not recommended for use as an agitation harness. It can be too light for hard hitting dogs and there is no chest plate on the leather tracking harnesses. This harness was designed to be lightweight and comfortable for tracking.

This design was copied from a tracking harness used by the RCMP in Canada. The harness does not restrict the air flow of the dog in any way. This is an extremely important feature on a tracking harness during long tracks where the dogs need all the help they can get.

The main difference between an agitation harness and tracking harness is that an agitation harness has a padded breast plate to cushion the dog when it hits the end of the line while doing protection work. The dogs need this cushion to absorb some of the shock of a tie out. This breast plate causes too much of an air flow restriction to be used in long police or Search/Rescue tracks. An agitation harness is also too heavy for long distance tracking.

I am often asked by customers if they should buy an agitation harness or a wide leather agitation collar for bite work training. The answer to this question lies with their dog. The purpose for either one of these training aids is to insure the safety of their dog during protection training. Some dogs have so much drive that they choke themselves during bite training if they are worked on the "dead ring" of a normal choke collar. If this is happening to your dog, you need to make a change. For many dogs, a wide leather agitation collar is enough. If a handler feels he needs more than this he can go with the agitation harness.

Our agitation harness is not recommended as a tracking harness. It is too heavy for long tracks. This harness was designed with security and comfort for bite work not tracking.

Rubber Puppy Tug

This is our newest tug for puppy bite work and drive building exercises. It is extremely soft and very flexible. We make these here at Leerburg Kennels. The rope handle is approximately 12 inches long and is made of durable nylon. Our puppies love this toy! We have also seen this same type of rubber tug used in agility classes in our area.

No toy is 100% indestructible (especially for a Cane Corso)! It is unrealistic to expect that from any toy. The toys that we recommend from Leerburg® are the best quality and most durable that we have found. Always supervise your dog when playing with toys. Periodically inspect all toys for damage. Do not allow your dog to continue to play with a damaged or broken toy.

20 Ft. Cotton Training Leash

This 20 foot light weight training line is light enough that it can be used on young puppies and strong enough for use with adult dogs. I have found that a cotton line, like the one we sell, is better than a nylon line because it does not get slippery when wet like a nylon line. It is also lighter in weight than a leather line.

This leash has a comfortable hand loop and is made out of the finest quality cotton. It has solid cast hardware which is corrosion resistant.

This leash is 1/2 inch wide.

3/8" Bevis Tracking Line - 33-feet (10 meters) long

We offer the best tracking line I have seen on the market. It is a 3/8" round x 10 meter (33 foot) tracking line. The snap has been tied, and sewn in place. This line is a soft flexible line, made from Bevis material, that is very easy on the hands, yet extremely strong (you can pull a car out of the ditch with it). The line retains its flexibility after getting wet. This is a very important feature of any tracking line.

If you are going to be a sport tracker, you know that a 10 meter line is required for Schutzhund. If you come to a trial and try to use a tracking line that is shorter than 10 meters you will have a point deduction from your score.

If you are a police officer, 10 meters is too long. You will want to cut this line down to about 20 feet. A 30 foot line is too much for tactical street tracking.

This line is also used as an agitation line. It is big enough in diameter to allow a handler to get a good grip and reduce the possibility of rope burns from a hard charging dog.

Synthetic Long Training Lead / Tracking Line - 18 Ft.

This Long Training Lead / tracking line is made of synthetic material that looks and feels exactly like leather. This 10 meter tracking line can get wet and is great for training.

The Amish maker hasn’t made leather reins in 3 years because he uses this material instead when making bridles and reins for his customers.

The tracking line is ½ ” wide by 1/8” thick. It is 1/3 lighter than leather lines, very soft and very pliable.

These leashes were previously made with rivets, however we no longer use rivets. The strength of the material comes from the middle, using rivets weakens that strength. Some times when the rivets are not perfectly centered, the leash can snap. See the pictures above. We know sew these leashes to make them stronger.

When I use an electric collar on a dog I want it to be effective and I want it to work all the time and I want it to accomplish its job quickly. That's not what happens with these poor quality no bark collars.

It would be easy for Leerburg to become a dealer for all of these different companies. We could offer a big selection and sell all of their collars and when customers complained I could tell them that their dog is a harder dog and they need a collar that packs more of a punch - then sell the the Tri Tronics no bark collar. That's not how I have approached Leerburg dog training equipment.
